The luncheon honored the 2019 grant recipients listed below. Donations are now being accepted for our 2020 grants event:
1) Wagon Road Camp/Children’s Aid: Rotary Club grant will help pay for children from Mt Vernon to attend a summer camp program.
2) White Plains Hospital: Rotary Club grant will help equip the new Pediatric Center.
3) Pace Women’s Center: Rotary Club grant will provide language interpretation services for domestic violence victims.
4) Scarsdale Drug and Alcohol Task Force (DATF): Rotary Club grant will provide training for coalition members.
5) Volunteer Health Program: Rotary Club grant will help purchase a sterilizer for surgeons performing cataract surgery in Central America.
6) Montefiore Nurse Family Partnership: Rotary Club grant will provide access to health and mental care for new mothers and their children.
7) Ronald McDonald House: Rotary Club grant will provide families of children undergoing medical treatments with 133 nights of housing.
8) Southern Westchester BOCES/Project Search: Rotary Club grant will help provide disabled students with workplace skills.
9) Girls Inc of Westchester County: Rotary Club grant will provide a college readiness field trip for 50 girls from low income homes.
10) Hearts to Homes Furnishings Inc: Rotary Club grant will provide apartment furniture for one young adult who aged out of foster care.
In addition, the Rotary Club will present additional unrestricted grant monies to:

The Greenburgh Nature Center is a nonprofit nature preserve and wildlife refuge with a mission to ignite passion, curiosity and respect for our natural world. The Nature Center has been a leader in environmental education since 1975. The 33-acre property includes a woodland preserve with hiking trails, a pond, organic garden, Nature’s Discovery Playground, Native Plant Meadow, green roof exhibit and over 100 rescued and rehabilitated animals may be viewed in the animal museum located in the Manor House.
Lakota Children’s Enrichment, Inc.
A for-purpose corporation with headquarters in Scarsdale NY and founded by Scarsdale resident Maggie Dunne. LCE empowers Lakota youth on the Pine Ridge Reservation in SD and amplifies their voices by providing mentorship and opportunities in the arts, education, sports, leadership and community service. Pine Ridge Reservation is located in three of the USA’s poorest counties.
Scarsdale & Edgemont Family Counseling Services
A local community organization that strengthens family and community life by providing individual, family and group therapy. SFCS also provides outreach to youth, services to elders, and public programs relating to family life issues. SFCS is a staple in the community since 1920.
The Foundation supports institutions and individuals that encourage educational and human development as well as mutual understanding and recognizes those in the community who through volunteer service continue to set an example of civic responsibility toward the betterment of the community.
Scarsdale Volunteer Ambulance Corps
For over 40 years SVAC has answered the call of residents, workers, and communities in the town of Scarsdale by providing emergency ambulance services to the community. SVAC is staffed by a combination of paid paramedics and volunteer emergency medical technicians, and other appropriately trained volunteers.
The remaining proceeds will fund contributions to Polio Plus, Well Water in Haiti, and the Scarsdale Rotary Club’s annual grants disbursed through its grant application process. Recent grant recipients include:
Advance Kids X-Press Enrichment Program, Andrus Children’s Center, Afya Foundation, Children’s Village, Girls Inc. of Westchester, Heartsong Child Therapy Programs, Let’s Get Ready, Make-A-Wish of Hudson Valley, My Sister’s Place, and Midnight Run by the Hitchcock Church.
