Fighting disease
Rotary encourages conversations to foster understanding within and across cultures. We train adults and young leaders to prevent and mediate conflict and help refugees who have fled dangerous areas. Since 2002, Rotary Peace Centers have trained more than 1,500 fellows who now work in over 115 countries.

Fighting disease
Rotary educates and equips communities to stop the spread of polio, HIV/AIDS, and malaria. Rotary International is a founding partner of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative. The Scarsdale Rotary Club provided a grant to vaccinate 500 children. Scarsdale Rotarians traveled to Bangalore, India to administer the polio vaccine to newborns.

Rotary International supports local solutions to bring clean water, sanitation, and hygiene to more people every day. The Rotary Club of Scarsdale has provided solar lamps and water filtration systems to Puerto Rico after a hurricane and provided well support in Haiti. We have donated money to water.org.

Nearly six million children under the age of five die each year because of malnutrition, poor health care, and inadequate sanitation. The Scarsdale Rotary Club provided funds to clean up a community in India after a massive mudslide. After a devastating earthquake in Haiti, we donated money to the AFYA Foundation and gathered at their warehouse to sort donated medical supplies.

The Scarsdale Rotary Club collected thousands of children's books for 914Cares' Literacy Library.
When Scarsdale High School student Archana Ram coordinated a book collection drive for the 162 orphan children cared for by New Seed International in Ghana, our club paid to ship the books to the children. We have supported educational programs for many years through Lakota Children’s Enrichment.

Rotary carries out service projects that enhance economic and community development. We are strengthening local entrepreneurs, particularly women, in Nigeria through our partnership with the Rotary Club of Festac, Nigeria and Dreams from the Slum. Our contributions allowed Dreams from the Slum to purchase a generator.
